Niamh began training with Keelan at the age of 10 as a white belt and has been an integral part of Ealaín Karate Dojo since its very first class, where she served as a teaching assistant. From the beginning, she demonstrated strong focus, consistency, and natural ability.
In June 2021, Niamh earned her 1st dan black belt, and in September 2023, she was awarded her 2nd dan by a respected international grading panel including Scott Langley (Ireland), Gabriel Van Rel (England), and Ross Stewart (Scotland).
After spending a year as a teaching apprentice under Keelan’s mentorship, Niamh began teaching her own classes, developing a calm, clear, and structured instructional style that students respond to with enthusiasm and confidence.
In addition to her teaching in Sligo, Niamh spent two weeks teaching and training at the HDKI Hombu Dojo in Dublin. During her time there, she gained hands-on experience in the key elements of running a professional dojo and was invited to teach several classes — including sessions for high-grade students. This immersive experience further refined her skills and deepened her understanding of traditional karate instruction at a high level.
Today, Niamh brings a thoughtful and disciplined approach to her teaching. She is known for her technical precision, her ability to connect with students of all ages, and her steady, supportive presence on the dojo floor. Her journey reflects the core values of Ealaín Karate Dojo — dedication, growth, and a commitment to excellence.
